It’s time we started expecting more out of ourselves in the church. The church is full of whiny Christians who just want to have their ears tickled. When are we going to start preaching words that make people feel uncomfortable? I like it when I feel my toes stepped on in church, because it means I’m being pressed out of my comfort zone.

It has been said that "…In church they can find a peace of not being surprised or anxious about what is going to happen…" Why are Christians so obsessed with finding a "comfortable" place where they won’t fear surprises or feel anxious? This isn’t the purpose of church. The purpose of church is not to find peace in a fearful world, but to worship God. If you are reliant on church to calm your nerves, you need to start spending more time with Him during the week. Church should not be your sole source of spiritual inspiration. It doesn’t do much good if you go to get your fill on Sunday and fall apart on Thursday.
